As a Business Analyst role ,Can you explain a time when you had to use your analytical skills to solve a problem without much guidance?
Purpose to ask this question :Tests independence and problem-solving skills.
Consider a Business Analyst who had to solve a complex problem without much guidance.
- Let’s imagine a technology company’s customer support team suddenly receiving more mobile app complaints. App crashes and slow performance were the main complaints. As a Business Analyst, I had to find the cause and propose solutions to prevent them.
- Problem Identification:The first step is to data collection. I started gathering information from various sources without much direction.
- Customer Feedback: Analysing complaints to find patterns or features that caused problems.
- Analytics: Use analytics to determine which parts of the application were most affected.
- Technical Logs: Working with IT to identify technical issues in error logs.
Analysis:
After reviewing the data, I noticed something interesting. Most complaints were about new features in the latest update. Older phones crashed the app more. That was my “aha” moment—new features probably didn’t work with older phones.
So I planned:
Quick Fix: I suggested undoing the last update to prevent app crashes for everyone.
Better Testing: I told our team to test updates on many phones, especially older ones, before releasing them.
Talk to Our Users: I thought we should inform our customers of the situation, what we were doing to fix it, and when it would improve.
